The preparation
Concept and palette were locked two weeks out: military academy commissioning dinner, built around dress blue, honor white, cord red. Florals — white roses with rosemary — for remembrance and the future — were prepared in our studio the day before.
The challenge
Protocol governs a commissioning dinner — every flag, rank and seat followed regulation before it followed aesthetics.
The result
His commanding officer said it was the finest commissioning table he’d seen off-base; his mother just held the shadow box.
