The preparation
Concept and palette were locked two weeks out: deco decadence in black and gold, built around deco gold, tuxedo black, pearl. Florals — white feathers and orchids in tall deco vessels — were prepared in our studio the day before.
The challenge
Authentic deco geometry is unforgiving — every fan, line and column was laser-cut to pattern-book proportions.
The result
The champagne tower pour opened the night to a live trumpet; not an anachronism in sight, said the host (a design historian).
