The preparation
Concept and palette were locked two weeks out: their chess café, transformed, built around ivory piece, rosewood, café. Florals — red and white roses alternating like a board — were prepared in our studio the day before.
The challenge
The ring hid inside a hand-carved queen that had to survive three casual games before the planned final move.
The result
He played the queen, she opened it, and the café where they met erupted — domino tables and all.
